Plot

2012 The film exploits the idea of a global doomsday event coinciding with the end of the Mayan Long Count Calendar's current cycle on or around December 21, 2012 (the northern hemisphere's winter solstice).

Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) is a divorced father who occasionally works as a limousine driver and a writer, while his ex-wife Kate Curtis (Amanda Peet) and children live together with her new boyfriend. In Guatemala reports start coming in of mass suicides in the Mayan jungles of people attempting to avoid the impending apocalypse.

The IHC (Institute for Human Continuity), a secret organization, has realized the situation and begins constructing vast arks beneath the Himalayan mountains designed to withstand most natural disasters in order to save both humanity, significant species, and the greatest treasures of mankind for when doomsday finally happens.

There are arguments however about how and when the governments of the world will alert their fellow citizens and even discussions about how the remaining survivors will be selected to survive Armageddon. When they discover that the global cataclysm is happening much faster than expected, they must race to these ships to save the human race before all is lost.

Meanwhile on a day trip to Yellowstone with his two young children, Jackson meets Charlie Frost, who hosts his own radio segment and blog about his belief that the Mayans are correct about 2012. Over the coming days vast cracks are found within the fault lines in California, and despite the pleas from the government that everything is fine, Jackson isn't convinced.

Hiring a private plane and gathering crucial supplies he races to his ex-wife's L.A. home to save himself and his family from the Earth's crust displacement occurring all around them. After a long and dangerous race through the collapsing streets of LA to get to Santa Monica Airport, Kate's new boyfriend Gordon uses his pilot skills to get the family to safety as the runway crumbles beneath them.

After they take off, they fly dangerously through Los Angeles as the entire city crumbles into oblivion around them. As they look back the entire cityscape of Los Angeles has already started to crumble into the Pacific.

It soon becomes clear that it's not just Los Angeles that's experiencing disaster, the Yellowstone Supervolcano erupts, Las Vegas is destroyed by a massive chasm that cuts through the city and an ash cloud from the Yellowstone eruption, more massive earthquakes occur in South America (one of which destroys the city of Rio de Janeiro).

Washington, D.C. is flooded by an enormous tsunami which crushes the White House, and The Vatican in Rome crumbles into oblivion, destroying thousand-year old Catholic architecture and killing thousands of worshipers within seconds. As massive tidal waves began to sweep across the Earth (even at one point beginning to climb over the Himalayas), the U.S. government declares the end of the world.

A group of survivors, including Jackson Curtis and his family must fight their way to China before they can board the great arks and save themselves from the gigantic tidal waves flooding the Earth.

After Watching:

How we treat the earth, it will get back to us also. I also can understand if one day the earth is angry and the world will like what we see here. People become selfish becoz of their own’s sake. Only rich and have high social status people can be alive, it’s really not fair. In this kind of situation, promise means nothing. Like the Indian guy who first find out the symptoms, the professor promise to pick him by aircraft but finally they didn’t. it’s also can’t say as the professor’s fault. We can see from here how parents care to his children and how grandson cares for his grandma. What we can do now is trying to precious this moment and to treat the earth good and precious everything around us

A Walk to Remember

My junior recommend me this movie when i was in Taiwan. It's one of my favorite movie till now.

Plot
When a prank on fellow high-school student Clay Gaphardt goes wrong, popular but rebellious Landon Carter (Shane West) is threatened with expulsion. His punishment is mandatory participation in various after-school activities, such as the drama club, where he is forced to interact with quiet, kind and bookish Jamie Sullivan (Mandy Moore), a girl he has known for many years but to whom he has rarely ever spoken. Their differing social statures leave them worlds apart, despite their close physical proximity.

When Landon has trouble learning his lines he asks Jamie for help. They begin practicing together at her house after school. At first Landon is only using Jamie for her help with the play, and treats her coldly when his other friends are around. But as he spends more and more time with her, he is surprised to find she is far from the person he thought she was, and begins to question whom he really wants to impress.

During the play, Jamie astounds Landon and the entire audience with her beauty and voice, and Landon kisses her on the stage. Afterwards, he tries to get closer to her, but she repeatedly rejects him. Soon thereafter, however, Landon's friends publicly humiliate Jamie by altering a photograph of her and placing her head on the body of a scantily clad woman. Landon angrily confronts his former friend, punching him and publicly siding with Jamie. Afterwards, Landon and Jamie begin a relationship in which Landon dedicates most of his time to her. He discovers that she has a wish list, and sets out to make all her ambitions come true, such as taking her to a state border so that she can stand on either side of the line and, thus, be in two places at once.

In the final stretch of the movie, Jamie confesses to Landon that she is afflicted by terminal leukemia and has stopped responding to treatments. Landon gets upset at first, and Jamie tells him the reason why she didn't tell him is that she was moving on with her life and using the time she had left but then Landon happened and she fell in love with him.

Soon, word gets out about Jamie's illness. Eric, Landon's best friend, comes and tells him how sorry he is and that he didn't understand. Other friends come and apologize too.

Jamie's cancer gets worse, her father rushes her to the hospital where he meets Landon. Landon doesn't leave Jamie's side until her father practically has to pry him away. Jamie's father sits with Jamie and tells her that "If I've kept you too close, it's because I wanted to keep you longer."

Landon continues to fulfill various wishes on Jamie's list, such as building her a telescope so she can see a comet. Through this process, Landon and Jamie learn more about the nature of love. The movie ends with Jamie's death, but only after the couple are married in the same chapel as was Jamie's deceased mother, the event that topped Jamie's wish list. Landon himself becomes a better person through Jamie's memory, achieving the goals that he set out to do, like she did.

Four years later, Landon visits Jamie's father. It is obvious that Jamie helped him to focus and become a better person. For example, he reveals he has finished college and been accepted to medical school; prior to meeting her he had no plans for life after high school. He tells Jamie's father that he is sorry he could not grant Jamie's wish to witness "a miracle" before she died. Her father says "She did. It was you."
